Boat Reviews By Owners
2005 -- 26' 0" ROBALO
Model: 265 Walkaround
Cockpit: The cockpit is big enough for 4 fisherman. Helm visability is poor unless standing. Good storage in 3 big fishboxes. Seats 7 comfortably. Good for picnicing. Very easy to walk up to the bow.
Cabin: The cabin is good for 2 people for up to 3 nights. The shower is very cramped for anyone over 5'6". There is a vee berth, head, fridge, micro, stove, heat, AC, hot water, table, good storage under the bunks and a small hanging locker.
Construction: The boat is designed to handle rough seas. The boat alone weights approx 6000 lbs. Excellent quality fittings are used. However, assembly is very poor. Nearly every screw has fallen out or misthreaded, some bolts have broken. This is very disappointing for a new boat. If it was not for the dealer repairing all problems, I would have sold the boat.
Handling: The boat handles all reasonable seas in the bay and ocean. The ride is very smooth for its size. It does tend to porpoise in calm seas. You must trim the outboards. It planes very quickly with twin 225 outboards. The boat is very stable at rest. It is hardly effected by wakes of other boat while fishing.
Engine Room: The boat has twin 225 Yamaha 4-strokes. I feel they promote optimun performance. The boat cruises comfortably at 35 MPH, doing 4200 RPM and burning about 17 GPH. I recommend power assisted hydaulic steering as the twins are difficult to handle in close quarters.
General Comments: I use the boat mainly for fishing in the Great South Bay and Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Long Island New York. If not for the assembly problems, I would highly recommend this boat. Robalo did make good on its warrantee.
