Boat Reviews By Owners
1999 -- 25' 2" MARIAH
Model: Z258 Shabah
Cockpit: Cockpit is very roomy with 2 bucket seats that swivel 240 degrees to a very open floor plan. It has very good visibility. I don't fish but the large in floor cooler just infront of the cuddy door is great to keep things cool.
Cabin: Cabin is a little small for big large shoulder men which I'm one of. I've napped many times in the cuddy and it is very comfortable with a nice pillow. The enclosed head is for women only as far as I'm concerned not much room in there for the guys.
Construction: The hull is very rugged, I keep this boat on Cayuga lake in Upstate N.Y. and it gets pretty choppy up there. Sometimes the hull takes a beating, but has no problem handling that. There are two problem areas I can see with the construction: The first is the two 6" panels on each side of the rear bench seat did not form a good seal with the back engine compartment so I had a new set made up to better seal. The second problem is the side cocpit walls some how came loose at the floor so I had to modify the mounting system with floor brackets solidify the walls.
Handling: This boat handles exactly like it supposed to.... a high performance sport boat. It is very solid at high speed turns and very steady while cruising.
Engine Room: This boat is powered by a 345hp 7.4 leter (454 cubic inch) electronic fuel injected mercruiser with a Bravo III. This boat launches and I mean launches out of the water and plains out in a maater of seconds. It has a top speed of about 58 mph. It can be modified to go faster but I don't see why you would want to. 65 gallon fuel tank is ample unless your really getting on the throttle all weekend.
General Comments: I use this boat for weekend cruising. Its probably a little overpowered for a small lake but anything thats 1 mile wide or larger and long....take her out there and have a good time. Overall this is a great boat for the sports boater. A few small things to modify or to fix but a great boat that won't disappoint you.
