Boat Reviews By Owners

1989 -- 25' 0" CHAPARRAL

Model: 2550SX

Cockpit: Factory seating is for 4 + the captain but fold down the seat and you have room for 2 more or add a 94 qt cooler w/ pad & add 2 more! Visibility is excellent. Fishing is okay but made more for cruising, skiing, etc!

Cabin: Cabin sleeps 2 adults and comes with galley & enclosed head. Remember, it's a cuddy so you can't stand up but overall is comfortable!

Construction: We just sold this boat after 16 years of ownership! If you are in need of a well built and classy looking boat then give serious consideration to a 2550SX!

Handling: Equipped with a 454, 330hp Merc this boat would do 55-60mph on a slight chop. Not a "dry" boat in rough water but we experienced and handled waves of 6' in a t'storm w/out problem.

Engine Room: The Merc 454 is a great engine! If there was a drawback of having it in this boat it would be for the do-it-yourself mechanic. Seats must be removed to change the plugs or work under the block (what you can get to).

General Comments: With an 84 gal tank this boat was great for cruising. We were located just south of Wash., DC and would take her down river and across the Chesapeake Bay on approx 3/4 tank. Great boat for pulling skiers...we pulled 7 adults once upon a time. Best suited for large lakes or rivers. We loved this boat and only sold her to move up to another Chaparral for the creature comforts. If you see one in good shape and with a sound engine don't hesitate grab it fast...we could've sold 8 of ours had we had them available!
