Boat Reviews By Owners

1971 -- 36' 5" YACHTCRAFT

Model: Islander 37 MS

Cockpit: It has a large cockpit with the helm aft of the cockpit behind a bridgedeck. Good for both fishing and picnicing.

Cabin: There is a "v" berth forward, followed by head with shower on the port side with drawers and lockers opposite. Next is 3/4 bed on the port side, with nav. station on the starboard side. Three steps up to the interior steering station and galley on the port side with settee on the port. Engine is under the sole with full access.

Construction: Hull is 100% frp with fairly heavy scantlings. Loaded she weighs 18000lbs.

Handling: She handles very well under sail I can easily reach 9.5kt. with 15kts. of wind on a beam reach. She runs earily at 6.5kt. at 1650rpm.

Engine Room: Perkins 4-107. This is a good solid and reliable engine. Being that it based on a truck engine, parts are available worldwide. I has ample power to punch through the waves when necessary.

General Comments: I keep her in Puerto Vallarta and use her mainly for daysailing with friends. Previous owner cruised all up and down the Pacific coast of Mexico her for 15 years. She's a very good seaboat.
