Boat Reviews By Owners
1981 -- 23' 3" FORMULA
Model: Thunderbird
Cockpit: Ample room all around. I would have added trim switch to the throttle post though. Good visibility with raised seats. Better for picnicking.
Cabin: Overnight is no problem for this classic. A bit more storage would be good as with any layout but it's roominess is a decent trade off.
Construction: Seems to be well built and after about 25 years, the structural things that should be questionable are still like new. A sound, strong boat.
Handling: Handles like a cruiser. Not super fast...but it's not built to be as fast as it was to be comfy. Inland only but I'm going to put in salt some very soon.
Engine Room: Crate bowtie 350CI Mercruiser. Few issues but I have not investigated it deeply.
General Comments: Absolutely love it! Use it for weekend trips and days on the lakes. She hasn't been somewhere she doesn't do well in yet, so we'll see.
