Boat Reviews By Owners
1966 -- 33' 0" OWENS
Cockpit: great cockpit, don't fish, makes the varnish bloody...yuk. Party alot back there, visibility great at med. rpm, not so great at 3/4 rpm...then great again at full throttle
Cabin: Cabin is for sleeping, reading, watching movies with the kids, eating meals, layout is great, son likes the fact that we all wake up together.
Construction: very well built, the diagonal underplanking and horiz. top planking make for a very stiff boat, doesn't "work" like batten seam Chris Craft's of same age.
Handling: Very kind in med. chop, can be sort of wet if run in quarter seas. Really great wide open in 1' chop...like speedboat, GPS has us at 30 knots.
Engine Room: Twin 350, 4 bolt main chevs appx 250hp. All Flagship stuff still on it, replaced where required and rebuilt throughout. Could use 454's or 502's, love that speed over water.
General Comments: I've owned this boat for 20 years, restored her from a "boat hospice" in San Rafael, Ca., moved her to Seattle in 1989. Boat is part of the family, Spent some of my Honeymoon on it. Best suited for internal waters such as Puget Sound, San Francisco Bay, etc. The boat has won design awards and has been published in Boating World. Unbelievable quality of the "bones". It's fast, comfortable and bulletproof.
