Boat Reviews By Owners

1987 -- 24' 0" CAPTIVA

Model: 240

Cockpit: good, but main sheet traveler crosses cockpit requiring one to step over in order to enter cabin.

Cabin: cabin in fine for overnight and cruising but there is no hanging locker space and only storage is in bilges accessable only under settee cushions.

Construction: well built. no problems except leaks under cleats and around cabin hatch. a tarp over cabin roof stops most of them. Also, the gelcoat in mighty thin and easily dinged.

Handling: She is sailed on the TVA lakes and handles well under sail in 20+ winds except for a mighty tsough weather helm.

Engine Room: She has a 15 hp electric start ob which keeps batteries charged and which will push her thru water ar about hull speed at about one-half throttle.

General Comments: I would have liked a larger boat but at age 80 and cruising single handed I felt she was about all I should try to handle
