Boat Reviews By Owners

1973 -- 27' 0" O'DAY

Model: 27

Cockpit: Large cockpit, comfortable for sleeping

Cabin: I lived onboard for 6 monthes, and will live onboard again this summer. The head is a bit clausterphobic. There are no opening ports.

Construction: Layup is massive with 5/8" at the turn of the bilge. Equally massive was the delamination problems on the foredeck and cabin top due to balsa coring.

Handling: Handles well under power, but doesn't back up well. I have had her outside in up to 30 knots, and she came out OK.

Engine Room: My boat is very underpowered with a 12 Hp Vire inboard. The 2 cycle engine was not original, and has no alternator on it, just a generator.

General Comments: The O'Day 27 is a good, inexpensive boat with plenty of room to add goodies , if one wants.
