1963 -- 16' 0" DURATECH
Cockpit: Roomy for driver and forward facing passenger up front, great visibility. Also roomy for 2 rear-facing passengers, since it has back-2-back seats. Lots of leg room. Works well for fishing, tubing, cruising, and yes, we eat meals on the boat!
Cabin: Lots of storage under the enclosed bow. No cabin. The boat is however small enough to FIT INTO a cabin though. :-D
Construction: Extremely well built. Four heavy aluminum stringers front to back, gunnels strong, enlosed bow provides more strength, good grade aluminum, more to say, but ain't that enough? She beats up the waves!
Handling: Great for inland lakes. She can take the big lakes like Huron or St. Clair, (MI) but not on a rough day. Large swells from big yachts send me back for safety, but that's the nature of aluminum runabouts. This strong runabout cuts right through light chops and small waves nicely, great hull design.
Engine Room: The max engine for this boat is 60hp, so of course, I run a 60hp Merc. Launches strong, planes right up, and flies at close to 45 mph.
General Comments: Multi-purpose. Tubing with the kids, cruising with the wife, fishing with my Dad and brothers, and just generally spanking the waves...this boat is perfect for all of it. I would not trade her. I'd LOVE to hear about your Duratech!
